The English Literary Society

We Live Literature, Do You?

About Us

Introducing the English Literary Society: A 90-Year Celebration of Creativity and Literature! Established in 1930, our society has served as a nurturing space for fostering originality, igniting creativity, and cultivating a profound love for literature. Through engaging events and modern platforms such as blogs and podcasts, we offer a dynamic platform for exploring and honoring creativity. Our core mission? To motivate our community to immerse themselves in the craft of storytelling and the enchantment of language.

Our Work

The English Literary Society, SRCC, is a confluence of literary brilliance, intellectual exploration, and creative expression. As the college’s premier literary forum, it nurtures a culture where storytelling, rhetoric, and critical discourse thrive. With Trecento, its flagship magazine, the society curates a compelling tapestry of prose, poetry, and insightful critiques, while Zephyr’s, its annual literary festival, gathers the finest minds to celebrate the transformative power of words.

Beyond its literary endeavors within SRCC, the society extends its impact nationally through the Shri Ram English Olympiad, a distinguished school-level competition that fosters linguistic dexterity, analytical acumen, and a deeper appreciation for the English language. Complementing this are signature competitions such as Minerva, Meraki, Twisted Tales, and Shipwreck, which challenge participants to push the boundaries of creativity, articulation, and wit.

More than just a society, it is a dynamic intellectual space where literature is not merely studied but lived—where words spark dialogue, imagination takes flight, and voices find their true cadence.
